Join the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge!
Set your little one on the path to a lifelong love of reading! Read any book, (yes repeats count!), to your newborn, infant, or toddler and work towards the goal of 1,000 books read before kindergarten!
Why Join?
Reading to your child builds language skills, sparks their imagination, and introduces them to endless new ideas. Plus, this challenge is a fantastic way to bond and create memories together. With rewards along the way, it’s as fun as it is educational!
Your child will:
- Earn brag tags, fun prizes, and plenty of encouragement from our librarians.
- Celebrate reaching 1,000 books with a special reading buddy (a cuddly stuffed animal!).
Who Has the Time?
YOU DO! By reading just one book a night, you can complete the challenge in under 3 years. And if you want to complete it in 1? You totally can! Read 20 books per week, that’s only 3 books per day, and you will wrap up the year with 1,040 books read.
How to Participate:
- Sign Up: Stop by the library or download the application [here]. Once you’re signed up, you’ll receive:
- A tote bag to carry your books.

- Note your favorite titles to revisit later!
- Celebrate Milestones:
