Obituaries

1900-1932 Obituary Index

For a copy of any of the names listed below, please refer to our Research Service page.

The Necrology Record Series, was compiled by the Tarentum History and Landmarks Foundation. The Foundation has graciously allowed the Library’s Local History Department to provide this on-line index to help genealogists in their research. Many thanks to them for their hard work.

Compiler’s Note: Tarentum Community Necrology Record is arranged by year and includes the names of all individuals from the immediate Tarentum area who had death records and/or obituaries published in the Valley Daily News. The number in the second column refers to the year and is followed by the page number; e.g. [1921] 147 refers to page 147 in year 1921 of the series. For volumes 1900-1906, 1907-1909, 1910-1912, 1914-1915, 1916-1917 and 1928-1929 the year in the index refers to the first year of the volume; e.g. Flora Zimmerman died on 4 April 1909, but is indexed at [1907] 318. Prefixes have not been included; hence, women – especially in early volumes – are listed under their husbands’ names. Names may also be a secondary listing with another name; e.g. W.L. Gelwicks [1918] 121 is listed on his wife’s record, Pearl Gelwicks.
